Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for December 19, 2019
big win, more entries, workout
- New Found Treasure sat a perfect trip close up in the early going, took over the lead turning for home, and won going away with every stride by 8+ lengths under a picture perfect ride by Tyler O’Connor this evening at Penn National. She was not claimed and came back great post-race. This filly has been knocking on the door for us and was long overdue for a win. Congratulations to group #54, and trainer/partner Mark Salvaggio on a very nice win.
- Solar gets in a very contentious race Saturday at Gulfstream Park, a full 12 horse field with a lot of closely matched horses. That said, he ran a huge race (3rd beaten a neck for the win despite a horrible trip) last time and with a similar effort and a little better trip, he’ll be very competitive once again.
- Bullion makes his long awaited return Dec. 26th at the Fair Grounds, exactly as planned to have him ready for the Oaklawn Park meet that begins next month with some of the largest purses in the nation at all levels. It’s been a journey with this horse, all minor stuff, but a lot more time off than racing. With a little luck now our patience is about to be rewarded. Looking for a good return effort, setting him up for even better times ahead
- Magic Musketier doing fine, had a nice workout at Los Alamitos.

Works & videos & entries
- Shake It Up Baby had another very nice work in company yesterday at Palm Meadows and is approaching his return. Kept his head in front of the other horse the entire way, going easily and galloping out well….
- Bullion had another nice workout at the Fair Grounds and is very close to running. He should be sharp and ready for the Oaklawn Park meet that begins next month with some of the largest purses in the nation at all levels. It’s been a journey with this horse, all minor stuff but a lot more time off than racing. With a little luck now our patience is about to pay off.
- New Found Treasure in a good spot Thursday at Penn National, should be very competitive in here, short field and should get a nice stalking trip.
- Solar doing really well, will be entered tomorrow (Wed.) for Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
- No Good Deed no problems at all out of her last work at Gulfstream Park. “I can come back with a half (mile work) next week. I have her on a seven day schedule now, I’d say she’s about 45 days from running at this point. Doing really well”. Ron Spatz.
- Giuliana Vee fine out of her race and will run back in January at Penn National.
- Life On the Edge is getting a little R&R in Ocala to get her ready for her three year old season next year. She had 7 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two. Arrived safely in Ocala and should return in about 60 days.
- Night of Idiots good out of her race and will run back at Golden Gate Fields in January.
- Here's a great photo of our beautiful yearling out of Exchanging Fire. Adam Parker took this photo of him on the wash rack a few days ago; it’s fun to see horses develop, you can see he’s in the process of turning from a boy to a man, like a teenager developing into an adult. He’s in training at T-Square stud in Ocala and doing super. We expect him to be a precocious two year old next year. Adam has had all three of the previous foals out of Exchanging Fire and told me yesterday “this is the nicest one by far, he does everything right, very willing and mature”.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for December 15, 2019
great work, 4th
- Night of Idiots sat a good trip off the pace and finished a close 4th at Golden Gate Fields, beaten about four lengths for the win. An honest effort, after two similar races at this level, a little drop in class should make her tough to beat next time. A nice day for Kenwood partner Helen Hansel and friends:
- No Good Deed had another really nice work today at Gulfstream Park, went quickly and easily, came back good, doing really well.

- New Found Treasure in a good spot next Thursday at Penn National, should be very competitive in here.
- Giuliana Vee fine out of her race yesterday at Penn National, beaten a bit over 4 lengths for the win.

4th, new entry
- Giuliana Vee had a decent rail trip on a sloppy track at Penn National, made a move on the turn and tired late to finish 4th, .beaten a bit over 4 lengths for the win. Not as bad as her last start by any means but not the effort we were hoping for.
- Another entry as New Found Treasure gets in a good spot next Thursday at Penn National, should be very competitive in here, a good test of where we are with her.
- Night of Idiots is in tomorrow at Golden Gate Fields, this is a decent spot and with the right trip should run well here.
- Rapstorerocks good this morning out of his race at Gulfstream Park, no fever or obvious illness. Was in a perfect stalking position at Gulfstream and stopped badly on the far turn. Obviously something was not right and when we scoped him afterwards he had a ton of mucus in his lungs and was coughing constantly. “Maybe the mucus was enough to stop him, no other reason he should have run that badly”, Kelly Breen this morning.
Anyone needing help with seating, dining, admissions please email George@kenwoodracing.com.
Entry information can be found on Equibase and on the Kenwood Racing website.
- No Good Deed continues to train at Gulfstream Park very forwardly now “she’s scheduled to work in the next couple of days, she’s doing really well, I’m very happy with her”, Ron Spatz.
- Life On the Edge will get a little R&R in Ocala to get her ready for her three year old season next year. She had 7 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two. Should ship out tomorrow and return in about 60 days

Race, video
- Rapstorerocks was in a perfect stalking position at Gulfstream Park and stopped badly on the far turn. Obviously something was not right and when we scoped him afterwards he had a ton of mucus in his lungs and was coughing constantly. The vet thinks he is coming down with a virus. The rider said he felt perfect the first part of the race and then sudden was gasping for air and suggested we scope him. Almost certainly, that was the problem. It’s a perfect example of the fact that horses cant’ talk and tell you if they are coming down with something. Safe to throw out this race, he has a shot to be a nice horse purchased at a bargain price.
- Giuliana Vee gets in the 1st race on Saturday at Penn National. The bad news is it’s a huge 10 horse field and she drew a very unfavorable inside post. The good news is that it’s not a super tough group with perhaps one exception and she’s been training really well for this. Will be a good test of where we are with her. Hoping for a good trip.
- Night of Idiots is in Sunday at Golden Gate Fields, this is a decent spot and with the right trip should run well here.
- New Found Treasure will be entered tomorrow for next week at Penn National, doing well, no issues at all.
Anyone needing help with seating, dining, admissions please email George@kenwoodracing.com.
Entry information can be found on Equibase and on the Kenwood Racing website.
- No Good Deed continues to train well. Here’s video of her training at Gulfstream Park yesterday:

Another surprise entry
- A surprise late entry as Night of Idiots is in Sunday at Golden Gate, this will give us a horse in each of the next three days at three different tracks.
- Giuliana Vee gets in the 1st race on Saturday at Penn National. The bad news is it’s a huge 10 horse field and she drew a very unfavorable inside post. The good news is that it’s not a super tough group with perhaps one exception and she’s been training really well for this. Hoping for a good trip.
- Rapstorerocks runs tomorrow at Gulfstream Park. This will be a tougher spot for less money than at Aqueduct but that’s winter racing at Gulfstream Park. He has a shot to be a nice horse purchased at a bargain price.
Anyone needing help with seating, dining, admissions please email George@kenwoodracing.com
Entry information can be found on Equibase and on the Kenwood Racing website.
- New Found Treasure will be entered this Saturday for next week at Penn National, doing well, no issues at all.
- Life On the Edge was fine out of her race at Gulfstream Park, walked today, no issues. Now she will get a little R&R in Ocala to get her ready for her three year old season next year. She had 7 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two. Should ship out this weekend or early next week and return in about 60 days
Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for December 12, 2019
results and works and entry schedule
- Life On the Edge was 6th today at Gulfstream Park, beaten just over 3 lengths for the win in a blanket finish. Sat off the pace from the outside, made a nice move to get into contention in the stretch and flattened out late. It was certainly not a horrible effort but she didn’t enough punch to get the money here. Maybe tailed off a bit after a long campaign. Now she will get a little R&R in Ocala to get her ready for her three year old season next year. She had 7 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two.
- Bullion had an exceptionally nice workout at the Fair Grounds and is very close to running. He should be sharp and ready for the Oaklawn Park meet that begins next month with some of the largest purses in the nation at all levels. It’s been a journey with this horse, all minor stuff but a lot more time off than racing but with a little luck now our patience is about to pay off.
- Rapstorerocks runs Friday at Gulfstream Park. This will be a tougher spot for less money than at Aqueduct but that’s winter racing at Gulfstream. He has a shot to be a nice horse purchased at a bargain price.
- Giuliana Vee will be entered tomorrow for Saturday at Penn National. Hope the race goes, looking for a big step forward, doing really well.
- New Found Treasure will be entered Saturday for next week at Penn National, also doing well, no issues at all.
- Shake It Up Baby doing well at Palm Meadows and perhaps two works from running.
- No Good Deed “came out of her work at Gulfstream Park in good shape. She came out of it just as good as she went into it”, Ron Spatz. This is a textbook example of the saying ‘they’re racehorses, not racecars”. Each horse is a unique individual that gets ready at its own pace. If you try to push them into doing something they are not physically or mentally ready for, you end up with a sore, unhappy horse that never has a shot to be successful. If you are patient, eventually many (not all) will come around. This filly was crabby and moved poorly for weeks with no apparent reason or specific injury. Time and patience and a change in her exercise routine and massage has her going in the right direction now. NO guarantees, but if all keeps going well she’ll work again next week and run next month. “I’m really happy with her, she’s a totally different horse than she was a month ago”, Ron Spatz.
- Solar ready to run back and there’s a race for him at Gulfstream Park in about 10 days.
- Night of Idiots is good out of her race at Golden Gate Fields. A little drop in class next time should get her back to the winner’s circle.
- Our beautiful yearling out of Exchanging Fire is in training at T-Square stud in Ocala and doing super. We expect him to be an early, precocious two year old next year!

More works, videos, new entry
Good morning, two nice works and a surprise entry today, all horses doing well…
- Shake It Up Baby had a nice work this morning in company at Palm Meadows. Doing well and could run right at Gulfstream Park around the end of December
- No Good Deed had a nice work at Gulfstream Park this morning. “I’m really happy with her, she’s a totally different horse than she was a month ago”, Ron Spatz.
- Rapstorerocks was entered today for a race at Gulfstream Park this Friday and the race went. It was a quick turnaround, he just arrived from New York earlier this week but he looks absolutely fantastic and settled in right away. He was ready to run when his race was cancelled due to weather at Aqueduct and this was his the right spot so Kelly Breen decided to enter him. This will be a tougher spot for less money than at Aqueduct, but that’s winter racing at Gulfstream Park. He has a shot to be a nice horse purchased at a bargain price.
- Life On the Edge will run this week at Gulfstream Park and then send her to the farm. A little R&R and she’ll be ready for a big three year old season next year. She’s already had 6 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two. Hoping for a good effort here to end the year.
- Giuliana Vee is ready to enter this week in a spot where we are looking for a big step forward, doing really well now.

More works, videos
Trainer Ron Spatz plans to breeze (timed work) No Good Deed tomorrow (Sunday) morning at Gulfstream Park. If any owner would like to go see her train please reply by 6pm this evening and we’ll give you the arrangements to meet Ron and see her work. Ron will be happy to let you go back after the work and take photos as she’s cooling out also.
Take a look at training this morning at Palm Meadows, thanks to trainer Kelly Breen for all these videos!
- Life on the Edge (middle) and Shake It Up Baby (inside)
- Solar
- Rapstorerocks
All of these horses seen training in the videos are doing excellent and should be ready to run soon at Gulfstream Park. Life On the Edge is entered for this week, Rapstorerocks has settled in really well, could run next week. Solar good out of his recent super race and could run back in 2-3 weeks, Shake It Up Baby is probably 3-4 weeks from his return, and if No Good Deed does well tomorrow and keeps going in the right direction she’s only a few weeks away from her debut also.
Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for December 6, 2019
Surprise entry, good work!
- Life On the Edge gets in a surprise entry next week at Gulfstream Park. It’s back a bit quick but Kelly Breen said this morning “she came out of her last like she never ran, she’s doing so good I entered her. We can look at the race and decide what we want to do”. We’ll evaluate the race and if it seems like a reasonable spot we’ll run and then send her to the farm. A little R&R and she’ll be ready for a big three year old season next year. She’s already had 6 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two.
- Giuliana Vee worked in company this morning at Penn National and went really well. No ill effects from the foot bruise she had earlier, outworked the other horse and came back excellent so far. She’s ready to enter next week in a spot where we are looking for a big step forward.
- Night of Idiots good today out of her race at Golden Gate Fields. A little drop in class next time should get her back to the winner’s circle.
