Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for October 9, 2020
Horse by Horse News
- Pango continued his great form since arriving at Penn National with his 2nd impressive win in a row this evening, giving Kenwood Racing 15 wins so far in 2020 (with more to come!). As previously mentioned, it was not the ideal spot for many reasons; a longer distance than his best plus a jump in class, but this was the last turf race of the year at Penn and he was training super so we took a shot and were rewarded as he sat a perfect trip under top rider Tyler Conner, took over the lead at the top of stretch and keep rolling to win in hand. Trainer Mark Salvaggio has done an absolutely exceptional job with this horse. He looked terrible in several starts at Gulfstream Park after we claimed him and has turned into a really good turf runner and a money maker. Unfortunately turf racing is coming to an end in the northeast for the season but we might be able to get one more race into him at Laurel Park or Monmouth Park and then we’ll evaluate our options. A hearty congratulations to our active racing group #58, who has three terrific runners who are all racking up the wins; Pango, Tracy Ann’s Legacy and Highwaytwentyseven. All were claimed for bargain prices and all have paid off big-time for this highly successful, fun and profitable group.
Entry news:
- Fire's Finale runs Oct. 12th for a very nice purse at Parx which for him as a Pa. bred has a 40% bonus. He’s the logical favorite here and with his best effort and a decent trip, should be tough to beat.
- Highwaytwentyseven gets in Oct. 12th at Monmouth Park, it’s a grass race but he will only run if it’s rained off and goes on dirt. Prediction for rain this weekend, fingers crossed as it would be an ideal spot if it comes off the turf.
- Giuliana Vee was entered for next Friday at Penn National and the race went with a nice 7 horse field. Ready to run, good spot.
Other news:
- Adhwaa was entered two times previously and again today and again the race did not go, it’s back up as an extra at Monmouth Park, enter Tuesday for next Saturday, and we are looking for other options elsewhere also.
- Tracy Ann's Legacy was entered for a race next week at Monmouth Park on short rest and the race was carried over, which is good for us as it gives her a little more time, enter Tuesday for next Saturday at Monmouth Park.
- Life On the Edge good out of her race at Monmouth Park and really enjoying a well-deserved bit of R&R at Sunset Meadow farm. She had 2 wins and two seconds for us this year, earning nearly $50,000. A little turnout while the weather is still good and back in training before the end of the year.
- Rapstorerocks good out of his race at Penn National, there’s a nice spot for him sprinting at the end of the month.
- Itsgottabemyway is ready to run, just looking for a spot for her.
- Blu Candy has come to hand quickly at Monmouth Park. Will work again shortly. There’s a good shot she makes it to the races this fall.
- New Found Treasure well out of her race at Penn National. Hoping to find another turf spot somewhere for her before grass racing ends in the region for the season.
- Seven Seven enjoying a little R&R at Sunset Meadow Farm, all good.
- Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well in Kentucky.
Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for October 7, 2020
Horse by Horse News
- First up Life On the Edge sat a good stalking trip off a very slow pace, made a move turning for home and flattened out, finishing 4th. No excuse except perhaps she’s tailed off a bit after a long, competitive summer. She did the same about this time last year and after a little time off last winter, came back to have a huge year for us at Monmouth Park so we’ll give her a brief freshener at the farm now and bring her back this winter.
- Next up Rapstorerocks was 5th at Penn National with no excuse. Sat a good trip, made a bold move turning for home and simply flattened out in the stretch. After the race both rider and trainer felt he’s better sprinting than going long, so we’ll try turning back to a sprint next time.
- Pango runs tomorrow at Penn National. Not the ideal spot; a longer distance than his best plus a jump in class, but as with New Found Treasure turf opportunities get very limited this time of year and the horse is doing great. He’s in great form so if he can handle the 2 turns he’ll run well in here.
- Fire's Finale doing excellent. Runs Oct. 12th for a very nice purse at Parx which for him as a Pa. bred has a 40% bonus. He’s the logical favorite here and with his best effort and a decent trip, should be tough to beat.
- Adhwaa is ready to run, race didn’t go last week at Monmouth Park so we entered her at Parx and that didn’t go either. There’s a race at Monmouth Park to enter in tomorrow for Monday, and a couple of out of town options to look at if that doesn’t go. We are anticipating a good debut from her wherever she runs.
- Highwaytwentyseven doing really well; was entered at Monmouth Park but the race didn’t go, we are looking for other options for him.
- Itsgottabemyway had a nice maintenance work at Monmouth Park and is ready to run, just looking for a spot for her.

- New Found Treasure well out of her race at Penn National. Hoping to find another turf spot somewhere for her before grass racing ends in the region for the season.
- Giuliana Vee will be entered this Friday for next Friday at Penn National, doing well, no issues.
- Tracy Ann's Legacy very well out of her 4th in the Buddy Raines stakes. There’s an extra race at Monmouth Park that’s perfect for her (the same race she won for us previously), if we can get them to hold off using it for another week we think she’ll be able to run back in it. Stay tuned. She’s been a very profitable horse for us and we expect lots more good races to come with her.
- Seven Seven well at Sunset Meadow farm, all good.
- Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well in Kentucky.

- Congratulations to trainer Kenny McPeek and all the connections of the super filly Swiss Skydiver, winner of the Preakness Stakes this afternoon! A terrific race and a very special filly indeed.
- Lots of entry news. As usual, entry information is here.
Horse by Horse News
- Tracy Ann's Legacy broke a tad slow for the Virgil (Buddy) Raines Stakes at Monmouth Park and couldn’t get to the front. Jockey Jose Ferrer was asking them to wait, and they sprung the latch at just the wrong time for her (see attached official chart “steadied at the start”). She worked hard to get up to the leader and battled hard for much of the race but the effort took a lot out of her and she tired noticeably in the stretch to finish 4th. She needed a perfect trip to have a shot against tough male stake horses and didn’t get it, but still gave it an honest effort. She’s been a very profitable horse for us and we expect lots more good races to come with her.
Two nice works today at Monmouth Park…
- Blu Candy worked in company from the gate at Monmouth this week and did really well and came back today with an easy 3/8 timed work (below) and did great. She has come to hand quickly after returning from a brief layoff at the farm. Once a horse starts working that generally means they are 8 weeks +/- from a race, so there’s a good shot she makes it to the races this fall.

- Adhwaa had her final work today and is ready to run. “went an easy 5/8, out 6 furlongs, she’s ready” Kelly Breen. - A surprise entry for Life On the Edge next Wednesday at Monmouth Park. A favorable spot came up, we’re going to evaluate the race and decide, as of now she’s running.
- Rapstorerocks gets in the entries next Wednesday at Penn National. A competitive spot for this consistent horse, looking for another good effort as he’s run well all summer at Penn for us.
- Pango gets in for next Friday at Penn National. Not the ideal spot; a longer distance than his best plus a jump in class, but as with New Found Treasure turf opportunities get very limited this time of year and the horse is doing great. He’s in great form so if he can handle the 2 turns he’ll run well in here.
- Fire's Finale doing excellent, there’s a race at Parx to enter in Tuesday which for him as a Pa. Bred would have a 40% bonus purse, if that doesn’t go there’s a race at Monmouth Park coming up in a couple of weeks.
- Highwaytwentyseven doing really well after a tough trip last time. There’s an ideal spot for him to enter in Tuesday at Monmouth Park for next weekend.
- Giuliana Vee pointing for a spot at Penn National next week, all good, no issues.
- Itsgottabemyway is being pointed for a spot later in Oct. at Monmouth Park, doing well
- Seven Seven arrived safely at Sunset Meadow farm for a little R&R and settled in just fine.
- Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well at Hidden Brook Farm in Kentucky. Take a look at this video of this exceptional weanling . As you can hear the farm manager Sergio saying in the video, he's the most photographed horse on the entire farm. Truly in 4 decades of doing this I have not seen a better looking, more balanced individual. Good news with his sire, Liam’s Map too, his 2 year old filly Crazy Beautiful was 2nd in a grade 1 stake at Keeneland yesterday AND Wicked Wisper, a grade 1 winner for him last year won the graded Miss Preakness Stakes at Pimlico on Preakness day today.
Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for October 3, 2020
Thanks to everyone who was with us for our online meeting last night. Good to see so many owners able to attend and share updates on your horses-groups. It has been a great year summer for Kenwood and we are looking for it to continue through the end of the year and beyond.
Horse by Horse News
- This evening New Found Treasure was a hard-trying 4th at Penn National. As mentioned previously, it was not an easy race but as usual she tried hard and ran well. We were forced to run her here for exactly twice the price she’d been successfully competing at all summer because opportunities for turf horses are few and far between at this time of year. She just wasn’t quite up to the task but still gave it her all and didn’t run badly.
Lots of entry news. As usual, entry information is here.
- Tracy Ann's Legacy has post #6 for the 10th & feature race, the Virgil (Buddy) Raines Stakes at Monmouth Park tomorrow with a great writeup from Monmouth Park, Tracy Ann’s Legacy To Take On The Boys In Saturday’s Opening-Day Feature For Meadowlands-At-Monmouth Park Meet. She will have to face male horses and it will be a very tough race. If you want to know just how tough consider she’s 10 to 1 in the morning line off a 4+ length win in an exceptionally fast time on this grass course and a 7 length win in her last start. That said, as Kelly Breen is quoted in the story, she’s at her home track with no shipping and couldn’t be doing any better. She’s earned her way to this race and will certainly get an acid test here. Win or lose she’s already been a very profitable horse for us and we expect lots more good races to come.
- A surprise entry for Life On the Edge next Wednesday at Monmouth Park. A favorable spot came up, we’re going to evaluate the race and decide if we want to run, as of now she’s running.
- Rapstorerocks gets in the entries next Wednesday at Penn National. A competitive spot for this consistent horse, looking for another good effort as he’s run well all summer at Penn for us.
- Pango gets in for next Friday at Penn National. Not the ideal spot; a longer distance than his best plus a jump in class, but as with New Found Treasure this evening turf opportunities get very limited this time of year and the horse is doing great. He’s in great form so if he can handle the 2 turns he’ll run well in here.
- Blu Candy worked in company from the gate at Monmouth this week and did really well. She has come to hand quickly after returning from a brief layoff at the farm. You can see a video Kelly Breen took here. Once a horse starts working that generally means they are 8 weeks +/- from a race, so there’s a good shot she makes it to the races this fall.
- Seven Seven arrived safely at Sunset Meadow farm for a little R&R and settled in just fine.
- Adhwaa ready to roll, looking for a spot for her Kenwood Racing debut. There’s a race for her next week to enter in at Monmouth Park, also spots out of town for her. Doing excellent, will likely have one more easy breeze before she runs.
- Giuliana Vee pointing for a spot at Penn National next week, all good, no issues.
- Itsgottabemyway is being pointed for a spot later in October at Monmouth Park, doing well
- Fire's Finale well and pointing for a spot at Monmouth Park in mid-October
- Highwaytwentyseven none the worse for wear out of a tough trip at Monmouth Park last weekend. Should run back in a couple of weeks.
- Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well in Kentucky. Take a look at this video of this exceptional weanling. As you can hear the farm manager Sergio saying in the video, he's the most photographed horse on the entire farm. Truly in 4 decades of doing this I have not seen a better looking, more balanced individual. - Tracy Ann’s Legacy got post #6 for the 10th & feature race, the Virgil (Buddy) Raines Stakes at Monmouth Park Saturday. She will have to face male horses and it will be a very tough race, but she is at her home track with no shipping where she’s already won impressively on the turf course. Couldn’t be doing any better, she’s ready to run.
- Adhwaa was entered today at Monmouth Park and was the only entry for the race. Since they don’t run 1 horse races, we’ll have to keep looking for a spot for her Kenwood Racing debut. There’s a race for her next week to enter in at Monmouth Park, also spots out of town for her. Doing excellent, since she’s not running this week she will likely work again before she runs.
- New Found Treasure will run Friday at Penn National. She’s doing great.
As usual, entry information is available here.
- Pango likely to run at Monmouth Park or Pimlico in one of two races, will be entered this Friday for next week, doing well.
- Rapstorerocks will be entered tomorrow for a race at Penn National next week, doing excellent.
- Seven Seven arrived safely at Sunset Meadow farm for a little R&R and settled in just fine.
- Blu Candy galloping strongly and getting close to her first timed work at Monmouth Park, maybe this weekend. All good, no issues.
- Giuliana Vee pointing for a spot at Penn National in a couple of weeks, all good, no issues.
- Itsgottabemyway is being pointed for a spot later in Oct. at Monmouth Park, doing well
- Fire's Finale well and pointing for a spot at Monmouth Park in mid-October

- Congratulations to all on an exceptional summer meet at Monmouth Park! Kenwood Racing finished with 4 wins and 7 seconds from 15 starts, putting us on the leading owner’s list with fantastic winning and in-the-money percentages, while trainer Kelly Breen was the runaway leading trainer for the meet.
- Our owner’s only meeting is this Thursday, your chance for a comprehensive horse-by-horse, group-by-group update with plenty of time for questions.
Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for September 27, 2020
Horse by Horse News
- Highwaytwentyseven had a very bad trip at Monmouth Park today in his grass debut, as he jumped the tire tracks at the half mile pole and landed very awkwardly. Jockey Antonio Gallardo didn’t urge him after that and frankly we were quite concerned he’d injured himself but fortunately he cooled out totally fine. The chart mentions the same thing, Antonio said if you watch the replay, you’ll clearly see he really landed badly and it was very fortunate that he came out of the race apparently none the worse for wear.
- Tracy Ann’s Legacy got post #6 for The Very One stakes at Pimlico October 1st in an overflow field of 16 horses. In a 5 furlong turf sprint like this with 16 horses, a slow step at the break or tight quarters for just a moment and you’re done. Plus with Covid protocols in place we’d have to ship to another trainer’s barn at Laurel today, have her out of our trainer’s hands for the week, and ship again from Laurel to Pimlico on race day. Far too risky, far too much to ask of the horse (and expensive!). Therefore we will scratch and enter Tuesday in the Virgil (Buddy) Raines Stakes to be run at Monmouth Park next Saturday, October 3rd. She will have to face male horses and it may not be any easier, but at least it will be right at her home track with no shipping, where she’s already won impressively on the turf course. Couldn’t be doing any better, she’s ready to run.
- New Found Treasure will run Friday at Penn National, NOT at Delaware Park Monday. She’s doing great and good not to have to ship her either.
As usual, entry information is here.
- Adhwaa had a nice, easy 5/8 mile work yesterday at Monmouth Park as she prepares for her Kenwood Racing debut which should come in the next couple of weeks. There’s a race October 3rd we are pointing for and off this she’s ready to run there if it goes. If not, there’s a race for her the following week to enter in.

Two new entries for this weekend at two different tracks. We have updated possible entry dates for all your horses here.
- New Found Treasure was entered yesterday for next week at Penn National and the race did not go, but was brought back, enter tomorrow for next Friday. In the meantime, there was another spot for her at Delaware Park to enter in today for next Monday and it went and she got in. As of now she runs Monday at Delaware Park, not impossible she ends up in the Penn National race if it goes, we’ll know that tomorrow. New Found Treasure has lived up to her name for us this summer, having been 1st, 3rd, 1st and 2nd in her last four starts.
- Highwaytwentyseven was entered yesterday for Saturday at Monmouth Park and his race did not go either, but it too was brought back enter today for Sunday and he too got in. A full field, on the grass which is new for him but he’s doing really well and ready to run.
- Itsgottabemyway pointing for a spot Oct. 3rd at Monmouth Park for her next start. She’s ready.
- Tracy Ann’s Legacy had an excellent, easy maintenance work on Monday. She’s doing super as she points for one of several stakes - handicaps at Monmouth Park and Laurel Park the first week of October.

She’s a very fluid mover as you can see from the video. - Pango fine out of a big win, grass is probably done at Penn National for the season in terms of spots for him so may have to look out of town for his next start. There’s a race for him Oct. 7th at Monmouth Park to look at.
- Rapstorerocks well off a hard-trying 3rd. Should run back in October at Penn National.
- Giuliana Vee, good out of her last and ready to run back in October at Penn National also.
- Fire's Finale fine out of his race, there’s an excellent spot to point for at Monmouth Park in mid-October. This a very nice, sound horse who runs hard every time. He’s had now had 2 fourths, a third and 2 seconds in five career starts with nearly $20,000 in earnings to date. Less than 5% of all horses run this many times at age two, and he’ll have a couple more shots to break his maiden this fall before getting a little time off to have him ready for what will hopefully be a big three year old season. His sire and dam both improved dramatically at age three and we think he has a shot to do so as well.
- Life on the Edge well out of her race at Monmouth Park too and as with Fire’s Finale, there’s a great spot to point for towards the end of October at Monmouth Park. She’s had two wins and two seconds already this summer at Monmouth Park and we’ll be looking for one more big effort in the final month of the 2020 Monmouth meet.
- Blu Candy training well at Monmouth Park. Hopefully she’ll make her debut later this fall. Galloping strongly since returning from the farm.
- Seven Seven gets a little time off now. Will ship to Sunset Meadow Farm next week
- Lisa Limon & her Liam’s Map foal excellent at Hidden Brook farm in Kentucky. Liam’s Map keeps producing major graded stakes winners and is one of the top young sires in North America.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for September 20, 2020
Horse by Horse News
We had two entries today at Monmouth Park and in a very rare (for us) tough day this summer, neither hit the board.
- First up was a surprise entry for Fire's Finale , who was stepping up in class off the best race of his young career 2 weeks ago. With a short field and nothing else on the horizon for him, we decided to give him a shot in much deeper waters and the class jump showed, as he finished a decent 4th here in maiden special weight company after having been beaten a nostril against $40,000 maidens last time out. To be fair it wasn’t an ideal trip as he was a bit too close up and in tight early, got pinched back to last and had to re-rally, plus the slightly quick turnaround might have left him a bit flat, but mostly the difference was the level of competition. Note in his two maiden allowance races he’s been 4th beaten about 7-8 lengths for the win, while in his three (upper level, $40,000-$50,000) maiden claiming races he’s been 3rd and 2nd twice, yet another educational moment for owners about the difference between claiming and allowance company. That said, this is a very nice, sound horse who runs hard every time.
- Then Life on the Edge got in an allowance event on the grass where she unfortunately drew the rail. As explained numerous times before this is usually the worst post in general and for her in particular, as she runs her best when outside and clear of other horses. Paco Lopez was never able to get her clear or comfortable, she was 3rd for most of the race while sandwiched between the rail and two-three other runners directly outside of her and not surprisingly she stopped in the stretch and Paco wrapped up on her late. While this race was certainly not indicative of her many excellent efforts or true ability, as detailed in a group email yesterday if you want a textbook example of the difference between claiming and allowance races, this was it. Note she was coming off a series of outstanding races, all 1sts and 2nds in her last four starts, and even with the leading trainer and leading rider, she was 5th choice in the wagering today at 6 to 1 odds because this was a different level of company she was facing.
In other news...
- Tracy Ann’s Legacy is doing super and has been nominated for stakes - handicaps at Monmouth Park and Laurel Park the first week of October. There is also an optional claiming - allowance race a few days later at Monmouth Park for her as a backup. Should run in one of those spots.
- Adhwaa good out of another excellent work Saturday at Monmouth Park. This time she worked from the gate and once again worked fast without being asked for speed. She’s a very fluid mover as you can see from the video. She’s progressed so well and quickly since her purchase that we are now looking at races Oct. 3rd and 12th at Monmouth Park for her Kenwood Racing debut, instead of towards the end of the month as we had initially anticipated.

- Pango fine out of a big win, grass is probably done at Penn National for the season in terms of spots for him so may have to look out of town for his next start. Congratulations to trainer Mark Salvaggio, who has done a super job with this horse since he arrived from Florida, and of course to our active racing group #58 for yet another impressive win with another nice horse.
- Rapstorerocks well off a hard-trying 3rd. Should run back in October at Penn National.
- Giuliana Vee, good out of her last and ready to run back in October at Penn National also.
- Seven Seven may get a little time off now. Feeling great, sound and full of energy.
- New Found Treasure excellent out of her recent win. She just got up in the final jump by the slimmest of noses in a 3 horse photo at Penn National last week. New Found Treasure has been a model of consistency for us, having been 1st, 3rd, 1st and 2nd in her last four starts. There’s another spot for her at the end of September at Delaware Park and Penn National or in early October at Monmouth Park.
- Itsgottabemyway ok off her Kenwood Racing in an overflow and very competitive 12 horse field at Monmouth Park. It was a particularly tough spot for the level and the trip was not ideal, she’s a solid filly and with a little better set up next time will be tough to beat. There’s a great spot for her Oct. 3rd at Monmouth Park to shoot for.
- Blu Candy training well at Monmouth Park. Hopefully she’ll make her debut later this fall. Galloping strongly since returning from the farm.
- Lisa Limon & her Liam’s Map foal excellent at the Hidden Brook farm in Kentucky. Liam’s Map keeps producing major graded stakes winners and is one of the top young sires in North America.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for September 17, 2020

Two big entries for Sunday at Monmouth Park:
- Life on the Edge will get the test in an allowance event on the grass at Monmouth Park. Leading rider Paco Lopez stays aboard for this one. She drew the rail, which as explained numerous times before is the worst post in general usually and for her in particular, as she runs her best when outside and clear of other horses. It will be up to Paco to figure out a way to get her in the clear and give her a shot. She will need her absolute ‘A’ game to be competitive here, it’s a huge step up facing older allowance runners as opposed to the 3yo-claiming fillies she’s had so much success against this year. She goes into it doing great so if Paco is able to work out a decent trip, it will tell us a lot as to where we will go with her from here.
- And a surprise entry for Fire's Finale for Sunday at Monmouth Park. Steps up in class off the best race of his young career 2 weeks ago. With a short field and nothing else on the horizon for him, we decided to give him a shot in much deeper waters. As with LOTE above, he’ll need his ‘A’ game to be competitive in this one. This is a nice horse who figures to improve as he matures, probably will give him a little time between starts after this one.
- Highwaytwentyseven was entered in a race that did not go for Sunday at Monmouth Park, but was brought back for next week. He’s doing really well and ready to run.
The three horses who ran at Penn National yesterday are all fine out of their races:
- Pango, fine out of a big win, grass is probably done at Penn National for the season in terms of spots for him so may have to look out of town for his next start. Congratulations to trainer Mark Salvaggio, who has done a super job with this horse since he arrived from Florida, and of course to our active racing group #58 for yet another impressive win with another nice horse.
- A fine effort for Rapstorerocks, who stepped up in class for a grass race at Penn National and was a hard-trying 3rd. Should run back in October at Penn National.
- Giuliana Vee, good out of her 4th with no excuse. Even the most consistent horses have an off day (night) and she had one here. When the worst news of the night is a 4th place finish, you know things are going really well.
Other horses…
- Tracy Ann’s Legacy has been nominated for stakes at Monmouth Park and Laurel Park in early October. There is also supposed to be an allowance race in the new Monmouth Park book for her. Continues to do super, should run in one of those spots.
- Adhwaa good out of another excellent work at Monmouth Park, once again fast without being asked for speed. She’s done everything right since her purchase and is on target to make her Kenwood Racing debut around the end of October if all keeps going well, perhaps even a bit sooner. We are really pleased with how this filly is progressing.
- Seven Seven will be pointed for something early in October most likely at Monmouth Park. If he takes another step forward as he did last time (a good 3rd), he’ll have a real shot at the winner’s circle.
- New Found Treasure, excellent out of her recent win at Penn National. She just got up in the final jump by the slimmest of noses in a 3 horse photo at Penn National last week. Treasure has been a model of consistency for us, having been 1st, 3rd, 1st and 2nd in her last four starts. There’s another spot for her at the end of September at Penn National.
- Itsgottabemyway ok off her Kenwood Racing debut in an overflow and very competitive 12 horse field at Monmouth Park. She tried hard, took over the lead briefly approaching the turn, but tired late to finish 6th, beaten 4 lengths for the win while finishing in front of more than half the field. This was a particularly tough spot for the level and the trip was not ideal, she’s a solid filly and with a little better set up next time will be tough to beat. Will likely run towards the end of the month at Monmouth Park.
- Blu Candy training well at Monmouth Park. Hopefully she’ll make her debut later this fall. Galloping strongly and shins ice-cold since returning from the farm last week.
- Lisa Limon & her Liam’s Map foal excellent at Hidden Brook Farm in Kentucky. Liam’s Map keeps producing major graded stakes winners and is one of the top young sires in North America.
