Former Kenwood runner, Bobby Blue Eyes, whose promising racing career was cut short by injury, was subsequenly adopted by long time Kenwood co-owner Cyn L after his final race on February 3, 2017 at Gulfstream Park. Cyn L owns a beautiful farm in Florida and provided the following update on Bobby Blue Eyes:

He was injured on the track and came to my barn to recover and have a good life.  After 9 months of stall time for healing and a lot of veterinarian care and care by Cyn L, he was allowed to have 9 months of pasture time for additional healing.

It was finally time for riding.  He is a sweet horse, but he became a difficult horse to ride.  He had three trainers, and he developed a dangerous rearing habit.  All were riding with an English saddle.  All three trainers gave up on Bobby Blue Eyes for safety reasons.  This was becoming very frustrating.  What to do next was the question.

I was introduced to a young woman named Jackie who has ridden a bull and is already a champion with barrel racing.  She has 15,000 followers on Instagram, and she is extremely good at handling horses.  I gave her a chance to work with Bobby Blue Eyes, and we decided to put a Western saddle on him.

She has only ridden on him three times so far, but I feel that he has met his match.  He is still spunky, but she rides with loose reins and turns him in a quick circle if she senses bad behavior emerging.

Bobby Blue Eyes seems to like her gentle approach, and I think he is on the way to be a nice riding horse.  He looks great with the Western attire.  I do not know if he will ever do barrel racing with her because of his past injury.  In the meantime, he is happy with his stall and individual pasture.  He has a bond with the mare that is in the nearby pasture.  In short, he has great care and is spoiled.  He is loved.

So far, things are looking up.
