Lots of good news, group #56 sold out

We are pleased to announce that Group #56 sold out in less than 1 week, over-subscribed with a waiting list. Thank you to everyone who joined our first group of 2020. Tomorrow all owners will receive an invitation to our season kickoff event on January 31st where we will have information on upcoming groups and some exciting changes – upgrades to our program. Everyone attending in person will receive a discount on our next group.

  • Shake It Up Baby made his three year old debut today at Gulfstream Park and ran 4th in an excellent effort. Battled hard for the lead between horses and tired late, missing 3rd by a head and 2nd by less than 1 length. Afterwards the rider correctly said he wished he’d let the other two horses go early and stalked in 3rd instead of battling for the lead, and that was spot on. The winner drew away and was much the best but had he rated a little, we’d have easily been 2nd instead of a close 4th. All that said, he obviously needed the race after a 6 month layoff and should move forward off this. He showed speed from the get go and heart when challenged. Seemed to come back perfect, there’s a couple of good spots for him in about three weeks, ideal timing for his next start.

Just as a note on the ‘teachable moment’ we mentioned previously, the #4 and #10 horses trained by top trainer Todd Pletcher for top owner Starlight Racing that cost $240,000 and $200,000 respectively as yearlings finished 2nd and 3rd and neither one was claimed. 90% of the time even if you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars at a premier sale for a really well-bred good-looking individual you end up with a claiming horse. Top owners and trainers run them where they have a shot to compete, even if it’s for a fraction of what they paid. That’s why we don’t overpay at sales AND run horses where they belong, just as these smart and successful owners did here. We paid $40,000 for our horse, they paid a lot more for theirs, we ended up with the same level of horse.

  • Night of Idiots runs tomorrow at Golden Gate Fields in a spot where she should be very competitive, even though it’s a tough group for the level. She worked again last Saturday and continues to be razor sharp.
  • No Good Deed makes her career debut Friday at Gulfstream Park.
  • Solar good out of his race at Gulfstream Park, there’s a similar spot for him in about 3 weeks.
  • Rapstorerocks good out of his recent work.
  • Giuliana Vee was entered at Penn National but the race didn’t go. Ready to run back anytime we find a race for her.
  • Our beautiful 2yo out of Exchanging Fire for group #56 in training at T-Square stud in Ocala and doing super.
