results and works and entry schedule
- Life On the Edge was 6th today at Gulfstream Park, beaten just over 3 lengths for the win in a blanket finish. Sat off the pace from the outside, made a nice move to get into contention in the stretch and flattened out late. It was certainly not a horrible effort but she didn’t enough punch to get the money here. Maybe tailed off a bit after a long campaign. Now she will get a little R&R in Ocala to get her ready for her three year old season next year. She had 7 starts and 2 impressive wins as a two year old, far more than 90% of all horses accomplish at two.
- Bullion had an exceptionally nice workout at the Fair Grounds and is very close to running. He should be sharp and ready for the Oaklawn Park meet that begins next month with some of the largest purses in the nation at all levels. It’s been a journey with this horse, all minor stuff but a lot more time off than racing but with a little luck now our patience is about to pay off.
- Rapstorerocks runs Friday at Gulfstream Park. This will be a tougher spot for less money than at Aqueduct but that’s winter racing at Gulfstream. He has a shot to be a nice horse purchased at a bargain price.
- Giuliana Vee will be entered tomorrow for Saturday at Penn National. Hope the race goes, looking for a big step forward, doing really well.
- New Found Treasure will be entered Saturday for next week at Penn National, also doing well, no issues at all.
- Shake It Up Baby doing well at Palm Meadows and perhaps two works from running.
- No Good Deed “came out of her work at Gulfstream Park in good shape. She came out of it just as good as she went into it”, Ron Spatz. This is a textbook example of the saying ‘they’re racehorses, not racecars”. Each horse is a unique individual that gets ready at its own pace. If you try to push them into doing something they are not physically or mentally ready for, you end up with a sore, unhappy horse that never has a shot to be successful. If you are patient, eventually many (not all) will come around. This filly was crabby and moved poorly for weeks with no apparent reason or specific injury. Time and patience and a change in her exercise routine and massage has her going in the right direction now. NO guarantees, but if all keeps going well she’ll work again next week and run next month. “I’m really happy with her, she’s a totally different horse than she was a month ago”, Ron Spatz.
- Solar ready to run back and there’s a race for him at Gulfstream Park in about 10 days.
- Night of Idiots is good out of her race at Golden Gate Fields. A little drop in class next time should get her back to the winner’s circle.
- Our beautiful yearling out of Exchanging Fire is in training at T-Square stud in Ocala and doing super. We expect him to be an early, precocious two year old next year!
