• The news with Lisa Limon keeps getting better and better. This afternoon, Liam’s Map’s daughter Wicked Whisper won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park, going away in a cakewalk. Coupled with Basin’s win in the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga last month, Liam’s Map now has two grade one winners, not only the most of any freshman sire this year, but something that hasn’t been done in decades. Both Basin and Wicked Whisper will be one of the favorites for the Breeder’s Cup race at the end of the month if they run there. At this point, with a Grade 1 winning filly and a Grade 1 winning colt, plus several impressive other maiden special weight winner’s who look like stakes quality runners, anything else would just be icing on the cake. Lisa Limon, an allowance winning filly by Scat Daddy from a young and attractive female family in foal to Liam’s Map on one early cover (breeding) should be a filly in great demand at Keeneland next month.
  • Race for New Found Treasure did not go today for Friday at the Meadowlands but was brought back, enter Wednesday for Saturday.
  • On Saturday, Start A Fire got in the race we wanted at Laurel Park, went off the solid favorite against a very weak field of maidens, made the lead easily and held it for the first half of the race, then slowed to a walk with no excuse to finish dead last, beaten over 18 lengths with no excuse. We spotted him where we felt there was a solid shot he would be claimed and he was.
  • Solar fine out of his race at The Meadowlands. He’s been 2nd and 3rd now for us in 3 starts and is a solid runner.
