Big win for Ember, another entry, lots of great news

Wonderful to see the 110+ people who joined us at the 2nd annual Kenwood Racing picnic last Sunday at Monmouth Park on a perfect weather day, highlighted by the NJ Thoroughbred Festival and tee shirt giveaway. A special thanks to George Katzenberger, our owner services manager for organizing this great event and to Kenwood partner Ellen Gaynor and everyone else who assisted George in making this event a huge success. We couldn’t do it without you!

A lot of exciting racing news….

  • Exchanging Ember was in a perfect spot at Penn National this evening. Ember got a perfect trip sitting close up behind two dueling speed horses and made the most of it, taking over in deep stretch to win by a hard fought 2 lengths in race 3. It was a picture perfect ride by her regular rider, Andrew Wolfsant, and truly a masterful training job by Mark Salvaggio!.

  • Next up Magic Musketier gets in a nice spot for his return to the races after a summer freshening tomorrow at Del Mar. He has worked absolutely great for his return.
  • Then New Found Treasure  gets in the entries at Monmouth Park on Saturday in a nice spot, hoping to end the month with another big effort here. Anyone wishing help with seating – admissions, kindly contact George@kenwoodracing.com
  • Solar’s race did NOT go Wednesday for Saturday at Monmouth Park but has been brought back, enter tomorrow for Sunday. The horse is doing absolutely super and just needs somewhere to run, here’s a video of him training this week

  • Starring John Wain had an excellent work Sunday (below), he’s doing well and ready to run.
  • ShimmyShimmy Shake good. There’s a race for her on September 8th we are pointing for at Monmouth Park and then we’ll send her to Penn for the fall.
  • Smarty Cat good out of her fine debut; looking at one of two races for her in September.
  • Life On the Edge, Start A Fire, Giuliana Vee and Rapstorerocks all good at Monmouth Park
  • Annie’s Candy and Night Of Idiots all doing well in California
  • No Good Deed, Shake It Up Baby and Bullion all fine on the farm. All three horses should get back to the track in September (maybe a little later for Shake It Up Baby than the other two).
  • Lisa Limon fine at farm in Kentucky. She’s in foal to Liam’s Map who had a huge debut winner at Saratoga last weekend. She is entered in the Keeneland November sale in Kentucky and we are excited to see her sell there.
