Kenwood Racing is off to a fine start for the year, both on the racetrack and at the sales. Generally the winter is a relatively quiet time for us on the track, with many of our better horses at the farm for a little well-deserved R&R, but nonetheless, we've managed to post two wins and 11 in-the-money finishes from just 16 starts through March 31st (70% in-the-money). This includes a fine, if limited record at the always super competitive Gulfstream Park prime winter meet, with 7 in-the-money finishes from 11 starts (62%). Meanwhile, Kenwood has had some very positive results, both as seller and buyer at public auctions across the country, selling the newly turned 4 year old filly Titanium Jo for $95,000 at the opening day of the Fasig-Tipton winter sale in Lexington, Ky. on Feb. 8th, and buying four two year olds at the premier OBS March two year old in training sale on March 15th & 16th. The four two year olds purchased were divided into two groups, as part of Kenwood's unique "Taste of Thoroughbred Ownership" program, and groups #28 & #29 were both oversubscribed in less than 1 week. "We are very excited to have been able to purchase these horses at what we feel were true bargain prices" said Kenwood President Jack Czajkowski. "The response to our co-ownership program has been exceptional. It was very gratifying to sell both groups fill up so quickly, with a great mix of new and repeat co-owners". Kenwood will be at the April OBS sale looking for additional two year old prospects to build on our inital success.
