April 29th was a day to remember at Gulfstream Park following a successful sale at OBS, as Scat Daddy filly Lisa Limon won impressively, going away in a competitive allowance event and her entrymate Kitten's Joy filly Vibrant Spirit ran very well in her return after a brief layoff. A large contingent of Kenwood Racing owners were on hand to celebrate as Lisa sat back early, then pounced on the field in the stretch to win going away. This clip of the stretch run posted on Gulfstream Park's Twitter handle says it all, look at her incredible acceleration on the outside! Check out the video of the entire race:
Lost in the thrill of Lisa’s huge win was a very good effort from Vibrant Spirit, who took the lead early, battled three horses on the backstretch and kept going, finally tiring in the final yards to finish 5th. The official chart says it very well, she was very competitive in here when pressed hard for most of the race, never gave up, and with this one under her belt off the layoff, should make a big move forward.
Both fillies will spend the summer at Monmouth Park with trainer Kelly Breen’s string there. If all goes well, you’ll see them in the Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth on May 26th, mark your calendars for that one! In the meantime, enjoy the ride as our horses keep winning everywhere they run!
