More Ice made his debut at Los Alamitos on July 8th (Race 2) and it didn’t start off auspiciously as he rapidly found himself dead last down the backstretch, so far back of the rest of the field it would have taken a search party to find him. However he was allowed to settle, began gobbling up ground turning for home and amazingly made it up to 3rd at the finish, gaining ground with every stride. This was the picture-perfect example of an impressive debut for a young horse. Totally green and immature coming out of the gate, then the light went on and he really ran. He’s bred to go long and run on grass and was one work short of being really dead fit to run so he was really up against it here, making the effort doubly impressive. This is a really well-bred colt with a lot of potential. “He ran great, that race is way too short for him but he learned a lot.” Don Chatlos, assistant trainer to Jerry Hollendorfer.
This beautifully bred son of top sire More Than Ready is being pointed for races at the Del Mar meet this summer. A lot to look forward to here!
