Excellent morning of training at Monmouth Park today (see photos below), also works in California.

Here’s some details, all works below….

  • Giuliana Vee worked very well this morning at Monmouth Park and is 2 or 3 works away from her debut.
  • Solar had an excellent work (not caught by clockers but super work in 48.0) and will be entered Wednesday for Saturday at Monmouth Park in a spot where he’d be tough to beat, hoping it goes.
  • Rapstorerocks worked with Start A Fire and one other horse and worked well, he’s ready whenever we can get a spot for him.
  • Start A Fire worked fine but slow, beaten by both horses he ran with (including Rapstorerocks above) while not doing anything wrong. Time was decent. There’s an extra at Parx, enter tomorrow for next weekend, maybe we’ll have some luck there and get to run, he’s ready for anything suitable that comes up.
  • In California Night Of Idiots worked well again this morning at Golden Gate Fields. “She’s doing really well, almost ready to run,” trainer Jonathan Wong.

Racing news…

  • ShimmyShimmy Shake had a good break, a clean trip, and plain tired to finish 7th today at Monmouth Park. She’s had every shot here, is sound and trains well, either just doesn’t like Monmouth Park or just doesn’t have it period. She’ll ship to Penn National now, a much easier circuit. The next couple there will tell the story.
  • Life On the Edge will run in an allowance at Parx with an enhanced $80,000 purse on Monday. While we’d have liked to run at Monmouth Park Sunday in the stake, it really was a no-brainer to run at a better distance, for more money, against a smaller field, and be able to get top rider Paco Lopez (who rode her so impressively in her maiden win) on her again. For this money certainly not an easy spot but we are expecting a big effort from her if she can handle the tricky Parx surface, which is sometimes a challenge for horses the first time over the track. Please let us know if you plan to attend, George@kenwoodrfacing.com for help with seating – admissions everywhere.
  • New Found Treasure got some antihistamines after her race and was much better. She was stung by a wasp on the face yesterday morning and almost didn’t run. The swelling went down and she was cleared to run by both Kelly and the state vet, but it’s likely that took a little out of her. There’s a race for her in about three weeks at the Meadowlands we’ll point for which should be a good spot.
  • No Good Deed will need a few more days before shipping into trainer Ron Spatz at Gulfstream Park.
  • Shake It Up Baby back into training at T-Square Stud and doing fine, see attached photos courtesy of Adam Parker.

  • More Ice excellent and ready to return from his brief R&R on the farm.
  • Annie’s Candy is fine and looking for the right spot, good out of easy maintenance work.
