General News
- We are pleased to announce our next online meeting will be Thursday October 1st at the usual time of 7:30pm. This meeting will be a ‘status report’ on our year to date overall, the Monmouth Park meet, and a horse-by-horse review. A must for all Kenwood Racing owners, invite to follow but put the date in your book.
- Our most recent online seminar from August 20th on claiming can be viewed on Vimeo.
- We were pleased to read the statement of support reprinted below from Monmouth Park CEO Dennis Drazin for the Horse Racing Integrity and Safety Act, which is making its way through Congress and has a real shot to be enacted into law by the end of the year. Nothing is perfect, but this would without question be a ‘game changer’ and a huge step forward for our horses, honest horsemen, and our entire industry.

- Adhwaa good out of another excellent work today at Monmouth Park once again fast without being asked for speed. She’s done everything right since her purchase and is on target to make her Kenwood Racing debut around the end of October if all keeps going well, perhaps even a bit sooner. We are really pleased with how this filly is progressing.

- Seven Seven is entered tomorrow (Sunday) at Monmouth Park MTO (Main track only) in a turf race, no rain expected so 95%+ chance he does NOT run in here, but feel free to check Equibase tomorrow. Assuming the race stays on the turf, he’ll be entered this week for next weekend at Monmouth Park in a similar spot. If he takes another step forward as he did last time (a good 3rd), he’ll have a real shot at the winner’s circle.
- Fire's Finale excellent out of a game 2nd at Monmouth Park by the closest possible nostril at the wire in a long photo (if you look at the photo, he lost by less than ¼ of an inch, any less and it was a dead heat). It was by far the best race of his young career. He’s never run an off race, with a 4th (beaten a nose for 3rd), a 3rd, and two 2nds, earning over $17,000 already in the maiden condition. This is a nice horse who figures to improve as he matures. He may be entered in the same race as Seven Seven next weekend at Monmouth Park or we may give him a little more time and point for a spot towards the end of the month.
- Life on the Edge was also entered for this Sunday at Monmouth Park and her race did not go. There are three different spots for her next weekend at Monmouth Park, and in her case having run a lot this summer an extra week off will probably help her. She’s already has 2 wins and 2 seconds in 4 starts this season at our home base, earning about $40,000 and running great every time. Congratulations to our historic group #50, this filly has lived up to her billing throughout her fine career and hopefully there’s a lot more to come.
- The wins just keep coming, with yet another thrilling photo finish going to the hard-trying filly New Found Treasure, who just got up in the final jump by the slimmest of noses in a 3 horse photo at Penn National this week and came out of the race just great. New Found Treasure has been a model of consistency for us, having been 1st, 3rd, 1st and 2nd in her last four starts. There’s another spot for her at the end of September at Penn National.
Three horses entered at Penn National on Wednesday:
- Rapstorerocks very sharp and steps up in class for a grass race at Penn National. That’s his best surface, so we’re hopeful he can handle the raise in class. Here’s a photo of him in the shedrow this morning from trainer Mark Salvaggio (attached).
- Pango well and will be entered this week at Penn National. Comes off a flying 2nd, beaten a head for the win. Here’s a photo of him enjoying the sunrise outside on the walker from trainer Mark Salvaggio.
- Giuliana Vee comes off 2 wins and a photo finish 2nd in her last three starts and will be entered this week also at Penn National. Trainer Mark Salvaggio took the photo of her looking out of her stall at Penn National this weekend, happy and healthy.
- In other horse news, Highwaytwentyseven very well off a very game 2nd, beaten less than half a length for the win at Monmouth Park. This excellent runner has a win and two seconds in three starts for us, all at significantly higher levels than we claimed him for. Should run back at Monmouth before the end of the month.
- Itsgottabemyway ok off her Kenwood Racing debut in an overflow and very competitive 12 horse field at Monmouth Park. She tried hard, took over the lead briefly approaching the turn, but tired late to finish 6th, beaten 4 lengths for the win, while finishing in front of more than half the field. This was a particularly tough spot for the level and the trip was not ideal, she’s a solid filly and with a little better set up next time will be tough to beat.
- Blu Candy training well at Monmouth Park. Hopefully she’ll make her debut later this fall. So far perfect since returning from the farm last week.
- Tracy Ann’s Legacy excellent out of a blowout win at Monmouth Park, went right to the front in a speed laden race and never looked back, widening with every step to win by seven lengths under a great ride by Jose Ferrer for his 4500th career win. We claimed this filly for just $22,000 last month on July 19th and less than 6 weeks later she had a win and a 2nd in two allowance events, earning $40,000 for our active racing group. We are looking at spots for her later this month or early in October at Monmouth Park
- No Good Deed is at Penn National and doing well. Will point for something at Penn later this month.
- Lisa Limon & her Liam’s Map foal excellent at Hidden Brook Farm in Kentucky. Liam’s Map keeps producing major graded stakes winners and is one of the top young sires in North America.
