  • Adhwaa finally gets in the entries Saturday at Monmouth Park. Unfortunately, this was not the spot we were looking for to make her Kenwood debut. We entered in several maiden $40,000 events where off her good form and excellent works she’d have been the horse to beat and none of them went. This is a maiden allowance event and came up especially tough for the level to boot. There are a couple of horses in here who ran good 2nds in maiden allowance events at Saratoga, plus an Into Mischief filly that cost $600,000 as a yearling making her 2nd career start off a good debut, enough said. She’d have likely been favored in the race we were pointing for, here’s she’s the 6 to 1 fifth choice in the morning line in this hyper-competitive spot. All that said, she’s been training really well for this and been ready to run for 2+ weeks now, so with no other option at the moment it’s an opportunity to get her started. Hopefully she’ll have a solid debut, worst case it will set her up nicely for a better spot next time.

Another brief ‘educational moment’ here; as mentioned with Fire’s Finale’s big maiden win this week, there is significant financial value in what’s known in the business as ‘milking the condition’. In other words, you only get to face maidens until you win a single race. After that you face winners for the rest of your life. If the horse wins first time out you get one purse at the maiden level, if you get a few placings before the horse wins you end up with additional purse income before having to face tougher horses. With Fire’s finale we got almost $20,000 (and a ton of exciting races) in his five previous starts, in addition to the $33,600 purse from his win, putting us in a very solid financial position with a sound, talented colt bred to improve with age. That is NOT to make any excuses or say we wouldn’t be thrilled if Adhwaa won first time out for us, just that if she runs well and places a few times before breaking her maiden, it’s by no means a bad thing financially. From everything we’ve seen, she has ability and has done everything we could have hoped for to this point.

  • Giuliana Vee  runs tomorrow at Penn National in a nice 7 horse field as she looks for her third career win and Kenwood looks for our third win in a row after big wins with Fire’s Finale and Pango. She’s trained well for this and has a real shot if she comes up with her best effort.
  • New Found Treasure was entered yesterday for a race at Laurel Park and she did not get in, there were 16 horses entered and priority is given to horses stabled at the track. There was another race to enter in today and she did get in this time. She runs Sunday at Laurel Park in a tough starter allowance event. TO be honest, way over her head, something we rarely do, but there are limited options now for turf horses. This is probably the last opportunity for her to run on grass this year; she’s training really well and has run really well (at much lower levels) all year, so we’ll let her take a shot knowing she may be a bit overmatched in this one.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy will be entered again tomorrow for next Wednesday. Ready to run back and this race would be the perfect spot to give her one more shot at Monmouth Park before the season ends Oct. 24th.
  • Itsgottabemyway is ready to run, just looking for a spot at Monmouth Park before the season ends on October 24th for her also. Nothing to enter in right now, we are trying to get them to put up an extra race.
  • Rapstorerocks good, there’s a nice spot for him sprinting at the end of the month.
  • Highwaytwentyseven didn’t get to run in what would have been an ideal spot for him when racing was cancelled Monday at Monmouth Park, looking for another spot before the meet ends Oct. 24th. Doing very well.
  • Fire's Finale  excellent out of his thrilling maiden win for a very nice purse at Parx. With one last surge right at the wire he put his nose in front to get the win by a short head in literally the final stride, with the 3rd horse a distant 10 lengths further behind. We bred and raised this horse, the final foal out of our beloved multiple stakes-winning mare Exchanging Fire (thus his name), who interestingly was stabled at Parx for much of her great career so it was fitting he broke his maiden here after 5 excellent runner-up efforts at other tracks (two 4ths, a 3rd and two seconds). This is a very promising colt, bred to improve as he matures, so there’s a lot to look forward to for all his owners. Not sure as to his next start, maybe one more and then a little R&R at a farm to have him fresh for his 3 year old year or may go to farm next week.
  • Pango coming around out of his 2nd impressive win in a row at Penn National. Trainer Mark Salvaggio has done an absolutely exceptional job with this horse. He looked terrible in several starts at Gulfstream after we claimed him and has turned into a really good turf runner and a money maker. Unfortunately turf racing is coming to an end in the northeast for the season but we might be able to get one more race into him at Laurel or Monmouth and then we’ll evaluate our options. A hearty congratulations to our active racing group #58, who has three terrific runners who are all racking up the wins; Pango, Tracy Ann’s Legacy and Highwaytwentyseven. All were claimed for bargain prices and all have paid off big-time for this highly successful, fun and profitable group.
  • Blu Candy has come to hand quickly at Monmouth Park, had another nice work Saturday at Monmouth Park and is scheduled to work again this weekend. On track right now to run by December, perhaps at Penn National for winter or perhaps at Gulfstream Park.

  • Life On the Edge  really enjoying a well-deserved bit of R&R at Sunset Meadow Farm. She had 2 wins and two seconds for us this year at Monmouth Park, earning nearly $50,000. A little turnout while the weather is still good and back in training before the end of the year.
  • Seven Seven enjoying his R&R at Sunset Meadow Farm also, all good.
  • Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well in Kentucky.

We will have an initial list this weekend (subject to change but probably pretty set) of where your horses will be shipping to when Monmouth Park closes on October 24th.
