  • The Fasig-Tipton 2yo sale in Maryland completed their under tack show today. The auction takes place next Tuesday and Wednesday. Our team is on hand, looking for horses for what we expect will be the final group of the year. We are specifically looking for high quality horses at exceptionally attractive prices and are attending the sale because all indications are (even more than in recent years for obvious reasons) this will be the time and place to find them.
  • We are pleased to announce our next online event via GoToMeeting will be held next Thursday, July 2nd at 7:30pm.  As a valued member of the Kenwood Racing Family, you are invited to participate. The meeting will offer a status report for all your horses, the latest updates on the racing season at Monmouth Park which begins the following day, plus a discussion of the Fasig-Tipton 2 year old sale and an opportunity for your comments and questions.   • Some really great news with yesterday’s announcement that fans will be permitted to attend races at Monmouth Park beginning with opening day, July 3rd, AND that owners will be permitted to view their horses train from a designated area during the meet. You can read the details here.

  • Fire’s Finale made his much anticipated debut today at Gulfstream and ran very well, finishing 3rd. Broke a step slow and started out near the back of the pack but made an nice sustained move to get 3rd money while not threatening the winner.  As trainer Ron Spatz stated going into the race, “he probably wants to go a little further, but I think he has enough speed to show himself going 5/8”. This is a very typical debut for many good horses and most move forward in their 2nd starts. For example, the winner here was a good 3rd in his debut last time, and the 2nd horse was 5th in his debut. Both had an experience edge which was the difference today. Off this nice debut effort we have even more reason to believe he’s a talented horse and we are looking forward to a fine career with him. Congratulations to all his owners!
  • Rapstorerocks came out of his good 2nd at Penn National (despite the wrong distance – surface) really well so trainer Mark Salvaggio decided to enter him on short rest; the race did not go but was brought back for July 3rd and went. He’s ready to run and got a good spot; if he runs back to his last race and gets a decent trip, he has a great shot to find the winner’s circle this time at Penn National.
  • Life on the Edge gets in Monday at Delaware Park. Looking for a much improved effort from her here.
  • New Found Treasureruns next week at Penn National. The good news is, it’s just the right spot. The bad news is she got the very unfavorable far outside post in an overflow field and it’s back in just 10 days, but she’s doing well and should be fit and ready for this and other distance grass races all summer.
  • Giuliana Vee good and was entered for a race at Penn National that did not go, she’s ready to run anytime. There’s a race for her to enter in next week.
  • No Good Deed doing very well, there’s a race for her to enter in at Penn National next week also.
  • Seven Sevenis making steady progress towards his debut. He’s had three works since arriving at Monmouth Park at the beginning of June, each about 1 week apart and all of them quick without being asked. Really couldn’t ask for more at this point. He’ll work again next week and if all keeps going this well should be ready to run towards the end of next month.
  • Pango will ship to trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn National next week in search of softer spots than he has had at Gulfstream when off the board in three starts for us this spring. 
  • Take a look at this photo and then look at the walking video of our Liam’s Map – Lisa Limon foal, taken yesterday at Hidden Brook Farm in Ky. Hard to find a better looking horse than this. Lisa Limon is back in foal and doing well and so far it’s been nothing but good news for this group.
