General News
- The OBS sale began today in Ocala. We had one horse to bid on today that we did not get, several others failed the vet exam. Three more sale days to go so still plenty of opportunity. Many people felt if you wanted to buy a horse at a bargain this would be the place to do it, but it was a surprisingly solid sale for the opening day (average slightly up, median slightly down), featuring for the first time live internet bidding. In a sale like this, some people will protect their horses with strong reserves if they like them and race if they don’t sell, but there are more than a few people here who pin hooked on bank credit and absolutely have to take what the market offers at this point. If we are lucky one of these horses will not get a lot of attention and we’ll buy a quality runner for a value price. If not, we just will pass. Group #59 sold out in 72 hours with 9 people shut out a couple weeks ago and we’re hoping to find one or two more opportunities for our valued co-owners in the final major two year old sale of 2020. Stay tuned and thanks for your support!
- Our next online seminar this Thursday “Race entries and the condition book” is an absolute must for all owners who want to learn more about an essential and complex part of the game. You can join without an RSVP using the link below but if you wish to attend we highly recommend you reserve your space in advance by emailing Jack@kenwoodracing.com . We have a large group of signups already; all welcome but current co-owners get priority.
- All updated entry information on your horses can be found at Equibase or on our entries page. Please remember, ‘entered’ does NOT mean the horse is running, it means they will be entered in a race that may or may not go, that the horse may or may not get into. If you want to learn more about how the process works, our seminar this Thursday is a must!

Two fine works to report this morning…
- Seven Seven had a very nice breeze today from the gate at Monmouth Park, as he approaches his debut. It was another fast time which will make the owners (and us) happy, but what makes us more pleased is the way he did it; under wraps, easily keeping up with the older horse he worked with. He’s close to his debut now. Maybe one or two more works and run if all keeps going well.

- Our Candy Ride – Tiz Blu filly (name coming shortly, all owners submit your name choice ASAP!) for new group #59 has settled in nicely since arriving at Monmouth Park. In fact, she’s doing so well that Kelly gave her an easy 3/8 timed work at Monmouth this morning (see just below). She went really well in company, you can see a video of her galloping out here.

- Fire’s Finale is heading north~! Coming to Monmouth Park next week (as soon as we can get a van ride for him) to train there with Kelly Breen and will be pointed to races at Monmouth and Parx – Penn (where he receives bonus purse monies as a Pa. Bred). He’s coming out of a fine debut at Gulfstream Park when a good 3rd. Off this nice effort we are looking forward to an exciting career with him this summer and beyond. A special shout out to trainer Ron Spatz, who did his usual excellent job getting this nice colt ready for his debut in Florida.
- Giuliana Vee excellent out of her exciting maiden win at Penn National. Might come back end of next week on short rest if the race goes and she keeps doing this well. Hopefully she’ll build on her win and have a good summer for us.
- Rapstorerocks excellent out of his nice win at Penn National and will be entered this Friday for a race next week looking for two wins in a row. He’s nicely positioned for a good season at Penn now.
- New Found Treasure good out of an excellent 2nd at Penn National. Ran hard and well despite coming back a bit quick on just 10 days rest. She will be entered this Friday for a race next week, should be fit and ready for distance grass races all summer now.
- Life on the Edge ready to run, looking for a spot for her.
- Pango ok out of his race at Penn National, looking for a turnaround next time after several sub-par efforts.
We’re certainly off to a fine start for the second half of the year overall, with a 2nd and two wins in July so far. We are expecting this to be a really good summer and fall for Kenwood Racing runners.
- Our Liam’s Map – Lisa Limon foal well at Hidden Brook Farm in Ky. Hard to find a better looking horse
