General News

  • Given the exceptionally high level of interest in 2 year olds from our owners (Group #59 sold out in 72 hours with 9 people shut out, thank you!), we will be attending the OBS July 2yo sale next week looking for one or two more horses for the stable. This will be the final opportunity for this year to purchase a nice two year old at public auction. The under tack show this week has been very sparsely attended. Not many people are going to make the trip to Ocala, Florida in July at the moment and everyone is anticipating an incredible buyer’s market. Stay tuned and thanks for your support!
  • Don’t miss our next online seminar, which by popular request will be on Race entries and the condition book on July 16th at 7:30 pm EDT A must for all owners who want to learn more about this vital and complex part of the game. As those of you who have attended previous seminars know, we’ve had 25-30 people and space is limited (with priority given to current co-owners). If you wish to attend, please reserve your space in advance by emailing Jack@kenwoodracing.com.

  • Pango had no real excuse when 5th this evening at Penn National. He sat a good trip, in tight a bit but just didn’t fire. It was a sloppy track and a competitive group and a fast run race for the level but all that said his best effort was good enough to make him very competitive here. We’re certainly off to a fine start for the second half of the year overall, with a 2nd and two wins in July so far and we are expecting this to be a really good summer and fall for Kenwood runners.
  • Our Candy Ride – Tiz Blu filly (name coming shortly, all owners submit your name choice ASAP!) for new group #59 has settled in nicely since arriving at Monmouth Park. In fact, she’s doing so well that Kelly gave her an easy 3/8 timed work at Monmouth this morning (see just below). She went really well in company, you can see a video of her galloping out here.

  • Fire’s Finale is heading north~!  Coming to Monmouth Park next week (as soon as we can get a van ride for him) to train there with Kelly Breen and will be pointed to races at Monmouth and Parx – Penn (where he receives bonus purse monies as a Pa. Bred). He’s coming out of a fine debut at Gulfstream Park when a good 3rd. Off this nice effort we are looking forward to an exciting career with him this summer and beyond. A special shout out to trainer Ron Spatz, who did his usual excellent job getting this nice colt ready for his debut in Florida.
  • No Good Deed was entered for a race next Friday at Penn National and the race did not go. There’s another race to enter her in next week at Penn.
  • Giuliana Vee excellent out of her exciting maiden win this week at Penn National. Hopefully she’ll build on this and have a good summer for us.
  • Seven Seven had another nice breeze Monday at Monmouth Park, as he approaches his debut. Doing excellent. “He would have worked a lot faster than that but the horse I had working with him couldn’t keep up, the riders were told to keep them together so he got less of a work than I wanted. I’m going to work him from the gate next week with an older horse, he’s more advanced than the rest of my 2 year olds at this point”, trainer Kelly Breen. Here’s a training video from Monday plus the work info. just below that….

  • Rapstorerocks  excellent out of his nice win last week at Penn National. A hearty congratulations to all the owners, including our partners Degaetano and Pastore Inc. whose owner, Ralph Pastore, named this handsome horse! He’s nicely positioned for a good season at Penn now and should run back towards the end of the month.
  • New Found Treasure good out of an excellent 2nd this at Penn National. Ran hard and well despite coming back a bit quick on just 10 days rest. She should be fit and ready for distance grass races all summer now.
  • Life on the Edge good out of her race at Delaware Park, beaten just 2 lengths for the win in a much improved effort. Kelly Breen feels confident she’ll run very well at Monmouth next time.
  • Our Liam’s Map – Lisa Limon foal well at Hidden Brook Farm in Ky. Hard to find a better looking horse
