General News

A very happy, safe and healthy holiday season to the entire Kenwood Racing family and as always thanks for your support in 2020. It has sure been a tough year for the world but happily Kenwood Racing’s success offered a little much needed ‘diversion’ as several of our owners put it. There were cash distributions made to every member of the co-owner groups of Fire’s Finale, Tracy Ann’s Legacy and Adhwaa along with a year-end report for co-owners on all current horses-groups. Three wins from three starts this month gives us 19 wins for 2020 out of 92 starts. Kenwood Racing has been winning at a 30%+ clip for the entire second half of the year, a nearly legendary percentage for such an extended period of time. We’ve won races at tracks up and down the east coast, from claiming races at Penn National to feature allowances and stakes at Monmouth Park, Parx, and Gulfstream Park. Congratulations to trainers Kelly Breen, Mark Salvaggio and Ron Spatz and the members of our Kenwood Racing family. May 2021 be a year of renewal for the world and even more success for Kenwood Racing. Look for news on new horses-groups early in the new year!

  • All good horse news to begin the new year... Tracy Ann's Legacy gets post #4 in the 11th and final race of the day in a large and super-competitive Abundantia Stakes on January 1st at Gulfstream Park. She had a nice little maintenance breeze and is fresh and ready, having earned her way here off an impressive wire to wire win in the opening day feature at this track. Tracy Ann has had a terrific career with 8 wins, 6 seconds and 3 thirds from 21 career starts and lifetime earnings over $225,000 to date. Claimed for just $22,000 at Monmouth in July, she’s earned several times that for us already and whatever happens here we think the best is yet to come with her.

  • Adhwaa had a nice little maintenance work at Belmont Park. She’s ready to run back and there are a couple of spots to enter her in this week at Aqueduct and Parx. Off her impressive maiden win at Laurel Park this month we think she’s going to be a nice horse for us this winter racing for large purses in NY – Pa. - Md.  The ideal spot would be a starter allowance at Aqueduct for a huge $55,000 purse if the race goes.

  • Life On the Edge arrived safely at Belmont Park from Overbrook training center last Sunday. She’s trained well all week and will breeze in early January. She should be running in New York this winter for some very nice purses.
  • Blu Candy is scheduled to return to training this week, we have a van lined up to take her to Mark Salvaggio at Penn National Tuesday. She did really well at the farm and we are sending her back after just a couple of weeks rest so she doesn’t lose much fitness. If all goes well Mark can gallop her for 10-14 days, breeze her once or twice, and look for a race for her debut. She is as explained from the get go bred to mature and we’ve given her a ton of time and patience in hopes she’ll be a nice horse for us.
  • Seven Seven is expected to ship to Overbrook farm shortly, once the weather-track there improves enough to let him get some training in. He’s doing excellent in his final days of R&R at Sunset Meadow Farm.
  • Pango well and happy in Ocala at de Meric farm. He’s getting turnout in a nice paddock now, then daily swimming for about 30 days, and then will go back into training with the goal of having him fit and ready to return to trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn National by the end of the winter and ready to run when the first turf races appear in the northeast next spring. He had a terrific year for us, ending with two straight impressive wins, and we are looking forward to another big year with him in 2021.
  • Fire's Finale is doing great in Ocala enjoying a richly deserved bit of R&R. A little turnout in a nice paddock now and back in training end of next month.
  • Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well in Kentucky. Lisa will be bred to the very popular young sire Bolt d’Oro in 2021. An exceptionally fast and beautifully bred horse, Bolt d’Oro was bred to 214 mares in 2019 and his first foals to hit the sales ring averaged over $90,000 as weanlings this year. Lisa is due have her second foal in early March by the top sire and racehorse Palace Malice.
