Good debut for Smarty Cat, Exchanging Ember in at Penn National

  • A fine debut for Smarty Cat today at Monmouth Park, the heavily favored winner was much the best but she ran hard and well to be a closing 3rd, gaining on the 2nd horse in the stretch and galloping out very strongly. Saddled well, ran hard, should move forward off a promising debut.

Enjoy this video of a nice day with a very large group of owners in attendance to cheer her on.

  • ShimmyShimmy Shake runs Saturday at Monmouth Park, a tough spot, huge field, has yet to run a good race at Monmouth and will need a huge leap forward to be anywhere close in here.
  • Exchanging Ember gets in a perfect spot at Penn National for next Wednesday, draws the favorable outside post in a 6 horse field and is the horse to beat in here. Been doing really well since the brief freshening and while maybe a bit light on training, is the class of the race and we expect a big effort here.
  • Workouts (below) in California for Magic Musketier and Night of Idiots (below). Both doing well.
  • Saturday will be another big work day at Monmouth Park
