Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Tessa P our 2-year old Jimmy Creed – Montessa G filly, newly purchased at the March sale gets a warm welcome to the Kenwood Racing Stable.  She was named to honor Tessa Pastore the daughter of Ralph Pastore who has partnered with us in most of our horse groups over the last few years.  Tessa helps Ralph run his side of the partnership and we are glad to have them both as partners in our horses. Trainer Kelly Breen said Tessa P is well and will be breezing on Monday.
  • Fire's Finale has been galloping this week after running a slight temperature late last week. He is fine now and will be on the timed work tabs shortly getting ready for his 2021 debut. But the best news is that I received this message today from the Pennsylvania Horse Breeder’s Association.

Congratulations on winning the 2020 2-Year-Old Male Champion Award with Fire’s Finale!

A fine honor and there will be an online ceremony late in May for the presentation. I will include details when available

  • Tracy Ann's Legacy was entered for Saturday at Gulfstream Park but the race did not go and was brought back for Sunday and again it was not used.  We are actively looking for another race for her as she is ready to run.
  • Seven Seven continues to train well at Belmont Park and is scheduled to breeze 3 furlongs on Saturday.
  • Life On the Edge had a nice work last Saturday Belmont Park and we are looking for the right spot for her in the coming weeks.

Life On the Edge (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: April 3, 2021
Track: BELMONT PARK
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 48:70 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt training
Rank: 22/314

  • Pango is doing fine and had an easy work on Tuesday aiming at Penn National for a race for him once the turf season opens up on here in the Northeast.

Pango (6-Year-Old Gelding)
Date: April 6, 2021
Track: PENN NATIONAL
Distance: Five Furlongs
Time: 1.04:00 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 17/17

  • Adhwaa is doing well after her last race and there is a possible race for her on April 22nd at Aqueduct.
  • Charge Account is fine after her race last Sunday at Gulfstream Park after a puzzling trip as described by our Founder Robb Levinsky below. Charge Account was supposed to have made one late run as she did when winning last time, instead she broke sharply and Edgar Prado didn’t take her back so she chased the favored leader the entire way around and tired late to finish 7th. He wrapped up on her late after she was done and she came back totally fine. It was frankly a disappointing and puzzling ride as she won impressively with different tactics last time out, she broke so sharp he didn’t want to try to take her back and it didn’t work out. This is a very nice filly who as trainer Kelly Breen put it “will be a perfect starter allowance horse for Monmouth Park this summer”. Next time…
  • Brynbella has arrived at Penn National to train with Mark Salvaggio who did a wonderful job with Pango last year in a similar situation.
  • Our other new member of the Kenwood Racing family the Kantharos – Crack your Whip colt is doing well and will also breeze on Monday with Tessa P.
  • Lisa Limon and her foal are doing well at Hidden Brook Farm.  Her Liam’s Map yearling looks tremendous and really has grown into a beautiful looking horse. (see the video and article, A Stallion Putting Himself On the Map).  In a fortunate turn of events, Lisa Limon was bred to Vin Rosso the Breeders' Cup Champion by Champion and leading Sire Curlin. Lisa Limon was ready for breeding and in heat yesterday, but the previously planned stallion Bolt d’ Oro was overbooked and not available.  As a result of the mix up, we were given the option to breed to Vin Rosso a rare champion by a champion yesterday or wait until Lisa Limon was ready next month.  For us, the choice was easy and hopefully Lisa Limon will be pronounced in foal for the 3rd year in a row
