Update on all your horses...
Good evening, here’s an update on all your horses with news, entries, works and more after a very busy week(end)…
- We’ll begin with the entry of Life On the Edge, who is in Friday at Monmouth Park for her career debut. Been training very well for this, excellent final work July 1st (below). 1st timers usually need a race or two to show their best but we are expecting her to show ability here and are excited to see her make the entries. Here’s a video of her and Shake It Up Baby training together on July 4th from Kelly Breen
Next we have two horses who were claimed from us at two different tracks:
- Blue Eyed Beth ran hard and well today at Gulfstream Park, finishing 3rd against a tough group for this level in a race filled with early speed. She made the lead early; holding it until mid-stretch when passed by two favored horses, but still hung on gamely for 3rd money. She was claimed for us from the race for $16,000, we paid $15,000 plus tax for her last year at the OBS June sale so not a bad outcome here at all. She’s an honest filly, won for us and ran well in almost all her starts, but has real distance limitations and we think she was well sold. This is the final horse for group #44, all three horses won, it was a fine group and all the co-owners can expect a statement and check in mid-August, once the final July bills have been received.
- Federal Dominance was a closing 4th, beaten 1&3/4 lengths for the win at Monmouth Park Friday and also was claimed from us for the same price we paid for him about 6 weeks ago. He ran 3rd and 4th for us in two starts, earning about enough purse money to pay for his training costs. Not a bad horse, but didn’t run as well as we had expected in either start and based on that, it appears he too was well sold.
Updates on all the horses....
- ShimmyShimmy Shake had no excuse at all when 6th Friday at Monmouth Park. Broke sharply, well placed just off a fast early pace while saving ground throughout, and tired badly. She’ll get one more try at Monmouth in a few weeks with a change in tactics, if that doesn’t work she’ll go to Penn National in search of a win against softer company.
- In other news Solar doing super, not a bad step or issue since claiming him at the end of last month. We expect him to make his Kenwood debut by the end of July. Here’s a video of Solar training July 4th at Monmouth from Kelly Breen
- Shake It Up Baby will be entered Wednesday for Saturday at Monmouth Park for his debut. Been showing a ton of speed and ability from the get go, excellent final work July 1st (below) hoping his race goes and expecting him to run very well.
- More Ice excellent works June 29th and July 6th (below), ready for his stake engagement opening day, July 17th at Del Mar. Doing super, won two big races as a two year old at Del Mar last year so we expect a big effort from him here.
- Other California horses with works below include Seahawk Lisa, ready for her debut at Los Alamitos or Del Mar, Annie’s Candy, ready for a race in a couple of weeks at the California fairs, Starring John Wain, ready for a starter allowance race at Del Mar, and Magic Musketier, ready to run at Del Mar, probably in August.
- Preacher doing well, should run this month at Del Mar or Ca. fairs.
- Night of Idiots training well at Pleasanton
- Rapid Red ready to come in from the farm shortly
- Looking for a spot for Bullion.
- Vibrant Spirit fine, should run at Gulfstream shortly. Final shot for her to show more or will be retired to a good home.
- Giuliana Vee well at farm, expect her to be ready to return to training by the end of July or early August.
- Start A Fire training well at Monmouth, heading towards his debut
- Exchanging Ember has had some down time while remaining at Penn National with Mark Salvaggio.
- Lisa Limon fine at farm in Kentucky, in foal, will be sold in November or January.
- Our three two year olds in groups #53 & #54 Red Rocks colt, Soldat filly, Overanalyze filly all well. We are down to the final few shares in our June groups; take a look at the attached video from trainer Kelly Breen this morning of the Overanalyze - Bold Kitten filly and the Red Rocks - Honey Green colt galloping out from their first timed works at Monmouth Park July 1st (the Soldat filly is in Florida). They went together in 37.0 flat, going easily. Next you can see them breaking from the gate at Monmouth July 4th here;:
These two horses are making very rapid progress, on track to make their career debuts this summer at Monmouth. Real values here for our final groups of 2019!
We’ll close with congratulations to our trainer Kelly Breen, who won three races today including the feature New Jersey bred stake, “Recent Claim Heading Home Captures Jersey Girl Handicap” Kelly is having another outstanding meet, 2nd leading trainer by number of wins, #1 by winning percentage. Take a look at the article at the bottom of the works below, folks your horses are in the best of hands!
